Omega-3 Dietary Intervention May Prevent Functional Losses of The Sight (amazon) (shopzilla)

Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 25, 2012

A new study by the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, suggests that supplementation of Omega-3 fatty acids has resulted in a protective application against a particular toxin, commonly associated with age-related retina functional losses. Nutri-Med Logic Corp, agreeing with study, adds that while dietary intervention of Omega-3 may improve age-related retina dysfunction and some retina degenerative diseases, prophylactic supplementation of Omega-3 would also reduce the risk of developing such dysfunction or diseases, in the first place.

The study by the University of Alberta suggests that DHA Omega-3 dietary supplementation resulted in its increased retina levels for the 1-3 months, 1-6 months trials and while the 1-3 months intervention had no effects, in the 1-6 months intervention the retinal pigment epithelial cells (cell layer just outside the neurosensory retina) function was preserved and the 6-12 months trail led to maintained outer and inner retina function.

The University of Alberta study was conducted on accumulation of a constituent (A2E) of the toxin Lipofuscin, also referred to as the aging pigment and “a wear and tear indicator” for nerve cells and retina ganglion cells. Lipofuscin has been and remains a focus of aging and stress research and there is sufficient evidence to reasonably infer that Lipofuscin can also be used as a marker of oxidative stress and aging, in general. Adv Exp Med Biol. 1989;266:17-26; Discussions 27-9.

Since retina has the highest concentration of DHA Omega-3 fatty acids, many studies such as the University of Alberta study have sought to evaluate if its dietary intervention could improve or delay the onset and/or the progression of retina diseases.

It is a known fact that DHA Omega-3 fatty acids exclusively activate the signaling pathways that can promote cell survival during their early development and protects them, later, from premature death. J. Neurochem. Vol. 98, P. 1507 – Sept. 2006.

Additionally, DHA Omega-3 fatty acids are also the precursor to Docosanoids, which produce neuroprotectin D1, inhibiting premature apoptosis (cell death) and oxidative-stress-mediated pro-inflammatory gene induction. Trends in Neuroscience. 2006 May;29(5):263-71.

Moreover, according to University of Maryland Medical Center, in a study of more than 3,000 people over the age of 49, those who consumed more fish (richest source of Omeg-3) were less likely to have Age-Related Maculate Degeneration (onset) than those who ate fewer fish.

University of Maryland Medical Center further states that other studies show that eating fatty fish reduces the risk of Age-Related Maculate Degeneration “AMD” in half and consuming DHA and EPA fatty acids may even reduce the risk of developing AMD.

Last but not least, according to the Department of Opthalmology, Ottawa Hospital Eye Institute, University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, their meta-analysis of eligible studies between 1995 and 2004 indicates trends in improvement of some retinitis pigmentosa outcomes with omega-3 fatty acids in higher quality studies. Can. J. Ophthalmol. 2006 Aug;41(4):481-90.

In conclusion, Nutri-Med Logic Corp, agreeing with this news study, adds that while dietary intervention of Omega-3 has resulted in notable therapeutic values for the age-related retina dysfunction or retina diseases, but the results are associated with the proper duration of its supplementation. Nutri-Med Logic Corp also adds that prophylactic supplementation of Omega-3, both DHA and EPA fatty acids, have been also associated with delaying or deterring the onset of such retina age-related dysfunction and diseases.

TheBeautyPlace.com Presents How to Prevent Adult Acne This Summer (amazon) (shopzilla)

    (PRWEB) June 19, 2013

Adult acne can appear at any stage in the adult life and is often a source of great distress for those afflicted with it. Women survive the harsh hormone changes as a teenager only to stumble upon worst acne as an adult. More than 50 percent of women age 25 to 58 have some type of acne. Adult acne can appear at any stage in the adult life and is often a source of great distress for those afflicted with it. TheBeautyPlace.com features the best tools to prevent adult acne. According to Dr. Murads philosophy, treating adult acne requires internal, topical, and emotional self-care.

Internal care means keeping up the right diet and eating healthy. Consuming nutrient rich foods and taking supplements is vital in protecting and promoting cellular integrity. Foods rich in vitamin A such as apricots, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and mangoes increases cellular turnover and helps keep pores clear.

Next component is a topical treatment. Dr. Murad suggests using products the treat both acne and aging concerns. Use a cleanser like Vivite Daily Facial Cleanser twice a day. This daily Facial Cleanser is a multipurpose formulation mild enough for regular use. It helps loosen surface oil and other impurities, gently helps exfoliate, and applies proven anti-irritants and rich humectants for fresh, moisturized skin. Additionally, wash skin with lukewarm water as opposed to excessively scrubbing with hot water which can lead to skin irritation. Its also extremely important to wash towels and pillowcases weekly because a bacterium generally lingers on those surfaces.

The last component is emotional self-care. Stress is a huge factor that can cause adult acne outbreaks. Stress directly affects hormone levels that contribute to breakouts. Regardless of the amount of distress something is causing, it can always be dealt with through sensible clear thinking and action strategies. There are numerous ways to relax, such as an at home spa day, going to the beach and or reading a book.

Being aware of what is being put in and on the body is a great start for preventing adult acne. Consuming the right foods, using the right products, and dealing with lifes stressors day by day will give the skin the best chances in the fight against adult acne.

Bel Marra Health Reports on New Research: Plant Based Diets Could Prevent Up to 80 Percent of Symptomatic Disease (amazon) (shopzilla)

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) March 30, 2013

Bel Marra Health, who offers high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, is reporting on new research outlining how following a plant based diet could prevent up to 80 percent of symptomatic disease.

As Bel Marra Health reports in its article (http://www.belmarrahealth.com/healthy-eating-2/the-best-anti-aging-foods-in-your-diets/) green vegetables are at the top of the list in terms of longevity. They are packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber, not to mention they are low in calories.

Kale, Spinach, Broccoli and Brussel Sprouts are examples of good greens. Although they are higher in calories, avocadoes are also considered an anti-aging food. Nutritionists say diets should include avocadoes because they are one of the most nutrient-dense foods. They are high in fiber and full of folate, potassium, vitamin E, and magnesium.

Dr. T Colin Campbell is a Nutritional Scientist and professor emeritus at Cornell University. He believes that plant-based diets can prevent 70 to 80 percent of existing, symptomatic disease. Campbell is the author of The China Study, one of the most comprehensive studies of nutrition ever written. He has said that cutting down on animal based protein will lead to better health and longevity. The doctor cites animal carcinogens as one of his arguments for limiting animal protein.

As the Bel Marra Health article reads, there is a lot of evidence to indicate that omega-3 fatty acids provide many health benefits. It has been associated with good cardiovascular health, the regulation of blood flow, good postnatal neurological development, the reduction of inflammation, and even the promotion of healthy skin.

While there arent any sugary snacks and salty foods on longevity lists, there are a lot of choices when it comes to following an anti-aging regiment.

Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) December 27, 2012

Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of both men and women in the United States today, but that doesnt have to be the case, says HealthyAnswers.com. HealthyAnswers.com resident medical expert, Mark Rosenberg, M.D., explains, A variety of specific nutrients have different jobs that keep the heart healthy. These nutrients can come from whole foods or from extracts in supplement form. These nutrients include powerhouses like: Omega-3 and ALA essential fatty acids which perform the vital function of cooling inflammation throughout the body. Heart researchers have recently found that inflammation is one of the biggest factors that create the risky arterial plaques of cardiovascular disease.

Another supernutrient group are the B vitamins, particularly folic acid, B12 and niacin. B12 and folic acid help decrease dangerous homocysteine that can form blood clots; niacin helps reduce bad LDL cholesterol.

Antioxidants particularly vitamins C, E help fight free radicals that can damage cellular DNA. Co-Q10 is another that helps energize the mitochondria power centers of your cells to keep them functioning at a healthy level.
