Science Shows DHEA Must be Used as a Cream from Health2Go, Inc, Not a Pill (amazon) (shopzilla)

Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 09, 2012

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is a prohormone a natural base building block for hormones.

Though the skin may be the most visible indicator of health and age, by age 35 there are other noticeable signs hormone levels are declining. These signs may include decreased energy, less mental clarity, dry thin skin, trouble sleeping, increased abdominal fat and reduced sex drive, among others. The right DHEA supplement provided the right way can fight off many declines in physical and mental fitness.

We all have DHEA. DHEA is the most abundant pro-hormone in the body. In both men and women, levels of DHEA peak by about age 25 when we are in our prime and decline thereafter. After age 25 we make about 2% less per year. DHEA is a base for testosterone, estrogen, estradiol and about 50 other hormones.

That is why a bioidentical DHEA supplement is beneficial in many ways; but DHEA must be used as a transdermal cream to work. Twist 25

Lunasin Shows New Potential for Nutrition in Health Care (amazon) (shopzilla)

Chesterfield, MO (PRWEB) April 24, 2013

Last Friday, the scientific community celebrated DNA Day to commemorate the discovery of the double helix in 1953 and the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. While these milestones are certainly vital to modern genetics, it turns out science may have just scratched the surface when it comes to applying these principles to human health.

Until very recently, the prevailing theory in the scientific community held that the DNA in genes themselves is solely responsible for gene expression as it applies to health and disease formation. In other words, good health is the result of healthy genes and bad health stems from damaged genes. And while the makeup of the DNA in genes certainly plays a critical role, new research show that it is not the only mechanism at work.

There are more than 3 billon DNA sequences in the human genome, but there are only 20,887 protein-coding genes in each cell of the body, equivalent to 2% of the whole genome. The number of genes is similar to that of simple life forms such as a fruit fly or even a microscopic roundworm. So what about the other 98% of the genome, the so-called junk DNA? Clearly it has a major role to play in making humans human.

      Epigenetics and lunasin

In September 2012, findings published from a large-scale federal project involving 440 scientists from 32 laboratories around the world provided an answer. It turns out that both junk DNA and the DNA packaging material act as genetic switches, informing the genome which genes to turn on and off. It is a complex system that acts like a dimmer for lights, controlling which genes are used in a cell, when they are used and how much they are used, and determining whether a cell becomes a skin cell, a liver cell, a neuron, etc.

So what does all of this mean? It means you have more control over your health than you think you do, said Dr. Alfredo Galvez, research scientist at the Center of Excellence in Nutritional Genomics at UC Davis and lead scientific advisor at the Missouri Plant Science Center. Most of the changes affecting your health dont occur in the genes themselves; they happen in the epigenetic switches. And thats great news. While you cant reverse a gene mutation, you can influence epigenetic switches through lifestyle choices.

Diet is central to it all: quality nutrition provides the fuel for healthy cell function. The soy peptide lunasin is the first nutritive compound clinically shown to promote optimal gene expression in cells through an epigenetic mechanism of action. And no other products optimize bioactive lunasin like Relivs LunaRich line of products. Learn more about LunaRich.

      How does lunasin work?

Lunasin gets inside the cell and binds to chromatin in the nucleus. Chromatin is DNA (the genome) wrapped around DNA packaging material called histones (the epigenome). Histones are the main protein components of chromatin, acting as spools around which DNA winds. Modifications to specific tags in histone tails are important in gene regulation. Lunasin binds specifically to these histone tails to affect gene expression.

In the epigenome, lunasin performs two functions:

prevents enzymes in histones from turning on unhealthy gene expression
activates enzymes in histones that promote healthy gene expression

The result: healthier cells and better health outcomes. Learn more about the benefits of lunasin.

      Multiple pathways = multiple benefits

Lunasin influences the epigenome in multiple cell types, so its effects go beyond individual pathways or individual genes. Each epigenome in each cell type is different. If lunasin affects the epigenome in a particular cell type one way, it will affect the epigenome in another cell type another way. Thats how it can provide multiple health benefits:

      Cholesterol management
      Inflammation reduction
      Antioxidant benefits
      Improved immunity
      Overall cellular health

I believe epigenetics holds the key to the future of health care, Galvez said. Rather than focusing solely on preventing gene mutations via drugs, which target a specific pathway and a specific gene, we need to also explore the multiple pathways and multiple genes that can be influenced through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

And no other company is advancing the nutritional possibilities of the emerging field of epigenetics like Reliv. We are in the middle of a revolution in nutrition and we are all witnesses. The most exciting part is that were really just getting started! Learn more about lunasin and epigenetics.

Bel Marra Health supports a recent study that shows there might actually be some benefits associated with early menopause (amazon) (shopzilla)

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) December 08, 2012

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, supports a recent study that shows there might actually be some benefits associated with early menopause.

According to the recent medical report, entering menopause at an earlier age increases the chances of experiencing a milder form of rheumatoid arthritis. It should be understood that rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory condition that involves the joints of the knees, elbow, toes, and fingers. The incidence of this rheumatoid arthritis has been earlier reported to be higher among women, possibly due to the hormones that are produced in the female body.

It has been theorized that a change in the levels of female hormones allows the development of rheumatoid arthritis, with earlier reports showing that pregnant women are the least likely individuals to develop this joint disorders because they produce high levels of reproductive hormones during pregnancy.

The study examined approximately 134 women who had entered menopause at various ages. These women were screened in terms of the occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis, as well as other medical and behavioral conditions, including levels of hormones. The study showed that approximately 72% of the women were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, with varying degrees of severity. However, the women who were diagnosed with a milder form of the inflammatory disease were found to have entered menopause at an earlier age, as compared to women with more severe forms of rheumatoid arthritis.

Based on the severity of their rheumatoid arthritis, different types of treatment were thus prescribed for the study participants. Those with more severe rheumatoid arthritis were given strong medication, whereas women with mild rheumatoid arthritis were prescribed milder drugs. More importantly, the women who underwent early menopause showed a better quality of life, based on the pain and stiffness that they experience with the mild form of rheumatoid arthritis.

Spokesperson for Bel Marra Health Dr. Victor Marchione says, This recent medical report is very interesting because it allows the readers to understand that certain other factors may influence the severity of a specific medical condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis. In this case, entering early menopause and the cessation of the production of reproductive hormones appears to be not so scary anymore, especially when one considers that this change in life increases the chances of experiencing a milder form of arthritis.

CEO of Bel Marra Health Jim Chiang continues, This report also indirectly shows that artificial anti-aging products may not be so helpful to women, especially when early menopause provides some form of benefit.

Bel Marra Health supports a recent study that shows how implementing an indoor smoking ban can protect against heart attacks across the United States (amazon) (shopzilla)

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) December 02, 2012

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, supports a recent study that shows how implementing an indoor smoking ban can protect against heart attacks across the United States.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), implementing indoor smoking ban protects the heart health of nonsmoking individuals and hopefully, decreases the incidence of heart attack across the United States.

The recent report issued by the CDC lists fifty of the largest cities in the U.S. that have implemented both local and state laws against indoor smoking. The report showed that smoking bans vary across the country, and it may be possible that one city is only governed by a local anti-smoking law and that statewide restrictions do not exist. This discrepancy thus reflects the level of implementation of indoor smoking bans, which may also well suggest specific cities that offer better protection against the harmful effects of secondhand smoke, include heart attack and stroke.

Discrepancies in local and state anti-smoking laws have been reported in the following cities: Los Angeles, CA; Philadelphia, PA; San Diego, CA; Jacksonville, FL; San Francisco, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA; and Virginia Beach, VA. The CDC report is quite interesting because it directly shows the largest cities that do not have local and state anti-smoking laws in place and thus, this information may be helpful for travelers who are concerned about their risk of heart attack and stroke due to secondhand smoke. This CDC report may also be used by local and state government officials in improving measures for the prevention of smoking-related heart ailments.

Another related and interesting report on the effectiveness of indoor smoking bans has been recently published in the Journal of Community Health. The report presents the results of a study that examined the incidence of heart attack in various large cities in the US before and after the implementation of indoor smoking bans.

The research study reviewed hospital data on the number of cases of heart attack among individuals with ages 45 years and above. From this information, mortality rates due to heart attack were calculated, and these values were compared before and after a full year of implementation of the smoking ban. The authors of the report also reviewed which US cities had local and state anti-smoking laws, to fully determine whether this legislation is indeed helpful in decreasing heart disease due to secondhand smoke.

CEO of Bel Marra Health Jim Chiang says, The results of the study were very interesting, in which New York City, only of the largest cities with both local and state anti-smoking bans, showed a 12% decrease in heart attack cases for the year 2004.

According to the CDC report, New York City has the strongest laws against indoor smoking, following both local and state laws that prohibit smoking in restaurants, bars, and other places. The 12% decline in smoking-related heart diseases far surpassed the expected decrease in heart attack incidence. On the other hand, the largest cities in California, including Los Angeles and San Diego, did not any significant decrease in the number of smoking-related heart ailments, which directly reflects the discrepancies in anti-smoking laws at the level of the local and state governments.

Spokesperson for Bel Marra Health Dr. Victor Marchione says, The effect of secondhand smoke on heart health may not be immediately observed in the general public and may only be seen after years of exposure. The use of anti-smoking laws in at least two levels of government may help curb the occurrence of heart disease due to exposure to secondhand smoke. These two recent medical reports may help health officials in identifying major cities that require improvements in public health laws, especially those concerning heart disease.
